Jeanne Rose as
‘Jeanne the Tailor” Reflections of a Hippie Chic
During the years of 1966-1971, as a
couturier for various Rock & Roll bands, I designed and made
clothes for various members of many “Rock ‘n Roll” groups. I
worked under various names including Jeanne Colon, Jean
Rose, Jeanne the Tailor and finally Jeanne Rose. These
groups included Big Brother & The Holding Company, Charles
Lloyd Band (Keith Jarrett, Jack deJohnnette, Ron McClure,
Charles Lloyd), Cold Blood Band (Larry Field, Danny Hull),
Country Joe & the Fish (Barry Melton and others), Donovan,
Elvin Bishop, Everly Brothers, Flamin' Groovies, Fourth Way,
Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane (Jorma Kaukonen, Jack
Casidy, Grace Slick), Paul Butterfield Band, Quicksilver
Messenger Service, Steve Miller Band (Tim Davis), Young
Rascals and many others including band managers, groupies,
roadies and even hangers-on. Some of these clothes are
funny, some are hilarious and some are classic – take a
look.
